Walk The Tine

Today I participated in ‘Walk The Line’, a sponsored walk that allows you to walk 10 miles along the Hampshire Watercress Line… actually along the trackbed. We were assured however that no trains would be running (phew!).

Yes it was beautiful with all of the autumnal colours draping the landscape around us; but my goodness it was hard work. To walk 10 mile along the trackbed of the line I would get my groove and press on to make good time however I found that I was paying so much attention to my footing over the sleepers that I wasn’t able to take in my surrounding as much as I would have liked. It wasn’t an option though, to critically watch my every step to ensure I didn’t slip and fall, but more of a necessity which was a shame. I did make myself stop every now and again to take in my surroundings.

Even though I was ready to give up after 5 mile, I am so glad I continued and completed the entire route. It is an experience I will always remember, and who knows, may even do again next year (weather permitting)!

All cash raised today was for the Canadian Pacific Project to help them restore 35005 Merchant Navy Class Canadian Pacific!!
